The "Carlaz" from Primaterra is an outstanding white wine, known for its expressive and distinctive aromatic qualities, characterized by the scents of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub that allow its origin to be recognized even with eyes closed. Located in Liguria, more precisely in the Lunigiana area on the border with Tuscany, here the producer alter De Battè, founder of the Primaterra project which unites several vine-growers, creates white wines, as well as exceptional reds, all enriched by the unique trait of the terroir. Another set of vineyards owned by them is located in the marvelous Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With this richness of nuances, Primaterra has the burden and honor of allowing expression to a magical setting that speaks for itself. The Primaterra "Carlaz" is made entirely from white grapes. It comes from vineyards situated on the hills above Carrara, defined by clay soils and organized according to terraced viticulture. The perfectly ripe grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed. The obtained must is fermented in stainless steel containers with maceration on the skins for 3-4 days because, as the producer Walter De Batté asserts: "the skin is territory." After aging, it is bottled without prior clarification and filtration. The "Carlaz" white is characterized by an intense straw-yellow color, embellished with golden reflections. The nose offers a complex aromatic and spicy bouquet, initially evoking yellow fruit then opening up to tones of aromatic herbs and balsamic traces. On the palate, it is fresh and savory, intense in its taste profile supported by a full and balanced body. It provides moments of cheerful brightness at aperitifs with friends or at fish-based dinners that bring to mind, both through scent and imagination, the sun-drenched terraces of the Cinque Terre.
